Philosophy

Never thought of starting a blog like this but hey, there's always a first for everything.

As the title might have suggested, this shall be my blog on thoughts about life. My life in particular. I was on YouTube going thru random videos and stumbled upon a couple on philosophers...what was really interesting was that I had thoughts like them except that perhaps mine wasn't heard (or have yet to be) and theirs was hugely known. Which makes me wonder if perhaps, maybe, in my previous life I might have been a philosopher.

Which brings me to the first thing I might want to write about today.

Does afterlife exist?

Well, give it a quick google search and I'm pretty sure there would be tons of articles coming up trying to show that afterlife do exist. Or some really religious websites telling you about god and afterlife.

First of all, I don't think of myself as an atheist, nor am I fully religious. Okay maybe I'm an agnostic but truthfully, I just don't want to put a label on myself. (Which I'll get on it later)
I grew up in a buddhist family, brought up with the morals and values of buddhism and taught by my parents that god exist and if you're sincere and devoted enough you'll get what you want in life. Never really questioned that as a child, I mean, your parents were pretty much your guide in life as a child. We are, like all animals, instinctually tuned to follow our parents' actions. It's only after a certain period of time where we learn to think for ourselves and have our own thoughts.

So anyways, as a kid, I've always been that goody-two shoe girl who don't dare to do anything that's deem "bad" or "incorrect", always trying to be on a good side in fear of being "punished" by the gods with bad luck or if I die, I'll go to hell. Which seems like a really scary place, really. I've always believed (as a child) that after-life/reincarnation exist and we should do good so that our after-life/next life would be a good one.

As time went by, I started learning new stuff, got exposed to other beliefs and culture...etc, I realised that I don't really believe in god or afterlife anymore. Well, being a science student, I do know that we're made up of tissues and cells and essentially just a couple (tons actually) of chemicals mixed up together which somehow gave up the ability to think and function...etc (which is so bloody amazing). So when you die, it pretty much means all these energy and all would just decompose and go back somewhere...right? Then again, energy can neither be created or destroyed so I'm not surprised that people actually believe that afterlife exist.

If afterlife exist, then the amount of spirits/soul in this world is crazily huge isn't it? If energy can not be created or destroyed, it pretty much means that there is a finite amount of energy in this world and in some sense, re-incarnation does exist. Well, what your body is giving off now (heat, in particular) is sort of fuelling the increase of temperature and this sort of energy is eventually going to be converted into other forms of energy so in some sense, the energy that is lost from our body would eventually be "reincarnated" into something else.

So technically, afterlife can't really exist because if they do, then how can energy be converted into another form or be recycled? Also, can you imagine how much spirits there would be in the world if afterlife did exist? We're probably bumping into 2/3 spirits each time we take a step.

Okay, I feel like I've just typed a bunch of bullshit cause tbh, I don't care if afterlife exist. I only know that we are given one life right now so might as well live it as we like cause we don't really know what is going to happen tomorrow anyways.
